Walmart Cucumbers Recalled Nationwide Due to Salmonella

- More recalls have been announced due to a Salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers.
- The products affected include whole cucumbers, cucumber salads, sushi and more.
- Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion and more retailers are impacted by these recalls.
More cucumber products are being recalled in connection with a multistate Salmonella outbreak, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This includes whole cucumbers, sushi, made-to-order sandwiches and more.
First, Walmart was added to the list of retailers affected by the cucumber contamination, per the company’s website. The whole cucumbers recalled were sold at Walmart stores in the following states and regions: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.
Kroger has also recalled multiple products containing cucumbers. Sushi rolls with cucumber that were sold from April 29 through May 14, 2025 are being recalled, including California rolls, vegetarian rolls, family value combos, platters and more. Marinated cucumber salads were also recalled and sold at Kroger locations in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. These salads were sold in 16-ounce, 36-ounce and 5-pound containers with sell-by dates ranging from May 11 through May 26, 2025. The recalled marinated cucumber salads were also sold at select Food Lion stores and regional chains in North Carolina and Virginia.
Check your refrigerator for this updated list of products, and if your cucumber products match any of the above information, dispose of them immediately. As of May 23, there have been 26 total illnesses, including nine hospitalizations connected to this Salmonella contamination. Common symptoms of Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. If you are showing signs of illness after eating a cucumber product, consult a healthcare provider as soon as possible.
