Kale and Spinach Recalled Due to Contamination

  • Hak branded spinach and kale products are being recalled.
  • The recalled greens may contain pieces of rubber.
  • These products were sold at retail locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.

There’s an active recall on kale and spinach sold in Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This is due to a foreign matter contamination.

The brand Hak is impacted by this recall. Their recalled spinach was sold in 330-gram packages with UPC “8720600608940” and 630-gram packages with UPC “8720600609817.” Their recalled kale was sold in 340-gram packages with UPC “8720600608605” and 680-gram packages with UPC “8720600609824.” All of the recalled greens contain lot codes from “LG262” through “LG292.”

The recalled kale and spinach were sold at retail locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. Check your greens immediately, and if they match the recall information, dispose of them or return to your place of purchase for a possible refund. 

These recalled products may contain pieces of rubber. While there are currently no consumer reports connected to this recall, If you are experiencing any illness or injury symptoms after eating the affected greens, contact a healthcare professional.
