Megan Thee Stallion Shared What She Ate at the Met Gala

Key Takeaways

  • Megan Thee Stallion shared what’s served at the Met Gala on TikTok.
  • Appetizers like chicken curry pastries, vegan lox and white truffle lobster roll were served.
  • Megan and basketball star Angel Reese’s favorite bite was caviar with cornbread.

The Met Gala is one of the most exclusive events of the year, with a limited invite list handpicked by Anna Wintour to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute—and display the charitable fundraiser’s fashion-forward theme.

Usually we have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes, with attendees being required to put tape over their phone cameras. But luckily for us, rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion publicly broke the rules by posting a video on TikTok with her famous friends.

At a table with recent Grammy winner Doechii and basketball star Angel Reese, Megan reviewed the small bites served at the Met Gala, giving us a sneak peek at what exactly celebrities are eating at the event. From caviar to New York staples, here’s what was shown in the now-viral video.

At a fancy function, of course caviar is going to be on the menu. And at the Met Gala, caviar is served with cornbread, an interesting combination that Megan and Reese were admittedly getting multiple servings of—and Doechii was surprised by how much she enjoyed it, too. But Doechii said that she loved the white truffle lobster roll, likely more so than the caviar. We don’t blame her; it sounds delicious. We may need to recreate that flavor combo in our own Lobster Roll recipe, or use it to spruce up our Lobster Roll Dip.

There was plant-based food at the Met Gala. The guests were served vegan lox, which is typically made with carrots to hold the same texture and color to the smoked salmon. Megan, Reese and Doechii had mixed opinions, but we’re always down to try vegan versions of meat-based favorites. Carrot Dogs, anyone?

Chicken curry pastries sound delicious, but were admittedly “a little dry” at the event, per Reese. And in classic New York fashion, mini truffle chopped cheeses were served. A chopped cheese is, in simplified terms, a chopped up cheeseburger on a sandwich roll with fixings like lettuce, tomato and onion. Finally, hamachi soup served in individual soup spoons was the last bite that Megan shared, which she liked alongside Reese.

Overall, it seems that small hors d’oeuvre are served at the Met Gala over a complete meal, so many celebrities eat before the event. Gigi Hadid told Vogue that she had “chicken fingers and fries” before arriving.

“I think a little protein in the form of fried chicken helps take down the jitters a little bit,” Hadid says. A comfort meal before an event can definitely be a satisfying stress reliever, so we love that sentiment.
