Matthew Broderick Just Shared His Last Meal Request

  • Matthew Broderick’s ideal last meal would include bruschetta he had decades ago.
  • The actor also revealed that he doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, so he’d skip dessert.
  • Broderick said he’d prefer to end his meal with a cheese board and wine.

Have you ever thought about what your last meal would look like, if you could choose? For Rob Lowe, it’s New York steak with a Caesar salad. For Jennifer Garner, the menu consists of pizza, roast chicken and veggie sides.

And on a recent episode of the podcast Table Manners, Matthew Broderick shared what his ideal last meal would look like—and it’s not so different from his colleagues’. Broderick’s last meal includes a mix of comfort foods and dishes from around the world. Here are some of the actor’s favorite food memories that correspond to his menu.

First, the Ferris Bueller star says he loves the simplicity of bruschetta, and it would have to be his last-meal appetizer. Specifically, he enjoyed a particular preparation of the tomato-based dish remembered from his travels to Italy decades ago.

“Just tomatoes and oil and garlic and a little basil,” Broderick recalls, and the bread is key, with this bruschetta being paired with extra toasted, “burnt” bread. “I still remember it.”

After bruschetta, the actor would keep it classic with roast chicken as the main dish. And you can’t have rotisserie chicken without “great roasted potatoes” on the side, per Broderick. He shares that he likes preparing his potatoes Greek-style with lemon, herbs and chicken broth—quite like our own highly rated Lemon-Herb Potatoes recipe.

And for dessert … well, Broderick admits that dessert is “not my very favorite thing.” While this is shocking, he opts for a different ending to his perfect meal: cheese and red wine. He shares that he loves an array of French cheeses, as well as Stilton and Godminster Cheddar cheese. As for his wine, Broderick is a fan of a “nice, strong” glass of Barolo or Burgundy.

To sum it up, the actor loves dishes curated from his European travels, and he would prioritize  comfort and memorable flavor for his last meal. Broderick has inspired us; a summer cheese board sounds extra good right now, and we may need to head to the store for some Stilton ASAP.
